After 15 years of operating a remote electronic bookstore, the idea of a physical store was born when the founder moved permanently to Naxos. Thus, “The Captain’s Bookstore” was created in the heart of Apeiranthos, a venture that was immediately embraced by the local community, as there had not been any other bookstore in the area until then. Apeiranthos, with a population particularly sensitized to the arts and letters, found in “The Captain” a new cultural space, a meeting place for people who love books. At the same time, the increase in tourism on the island has favored the course of the business, becoming a main support for its year-round operation.
The books hosted on its shelves cover a wide range of categories and are available in many languages, in order to meet the interests and preferences of all visitors—locals and foreigners. The Captain’s Bookstore is not just a store, but a living cultural hub that strengthens the intellectual life of Apeirantho
