The village of Filoti hides a history rich in culture and heritage within its narrow streets. The Fasolas neighborhood is located right behind the central square and invites you to discover the traditional way of life. The neighborhood’s history begins in 1922, when Antonis Pagidas, a 14-year-old refugee boy from Chios, settled permanently in Filoti. It was named after a region on Chios, and the young man, drawing on the blacksmithing skills he had learned from his father, founded the “Giorgos Antonis” Blacksmith Shop, also known as “Kidalion.” Later, other businesses opened, such as the carpenter’s shop, ‘Tsaka’s’ barbershop, ‘Manolaras’ café, and ‘Smilomichalis’ grocery store, thus creating a vibrant center for the village.” Nikos Moustakis, a relative of Pagidas, has brought all the childhood memories of the Fasolas neighborhood back to life, and all the shops now function as open-air museums, keeping the village’s memories and cultural heritage alive. Visitors have the opportunity to travel back in time and walk in the footsteps of the people who once lived there.
